J. grew up in the Evangelical tradition. But after many years of study, reflection, and conversation with friends has adopted a progressive Christian faith. His sermons combine a critical approach to the Bible with storytelling which he hopes help foster an awareness of God as well as makes space for creative and playful spiritual exploration. He lives in Pawtucket, RI with his three children.
